I’m so excited to share my new tattoo, designed and inked by the brilliant @em_atropa of White Willow Studio. I’m over the moon and couldn’t be more honored to wear it.🖤

Months ago, I was introduced to Em by @heidi.kalwasinski (I’m so grateful!) and immediately fell in love with their art (described by Em as folk plantwork). I had the opportunity to meet with them and after talking for a while about ✨everything✨ (the people and things I love, my current path, the tarot and astrology that came up at our session...), Em spent some time with the plants and provided me with a few beautiful choices.

We ultimately decided on flax, which holds so much meaning for me. The fibers of the flax plant are used to create textiles, especially linen—Em reminded me that it’s the patron herb of dressmakers. Ancient flax fibers have been found in caves and date back over 30,000 years. It was also considered a valued herb in ancient Egypt and the Old Testament. Aside from cloth, it’s used to make cord, lamp wicks, and bow strings. Flax is used frequently in money magic and for protection and consecration. At this point of my life, it’s tied to inner strength and change.

The lacey ornament surrounding the flowers is based on older folk art from psanky and embroidery.

I’m also crazy about the flow of the design—it’s really magical. It feels like I’m wearing both a lace shawl and armor. (Swipe to see different angles.)

It was truly one of the coolest experiences. Even the studio is a wildly beautiful, relaxing, and sacred place. Thank you so much Em, I’m ecstatic.🌿
