About

workingpups.png

My name is Rachel. I live and work in Pittsburgh. I have two pups and a boyfriend. This blog chronicles the progress of my tapestree project, along with other needlework.

My daybook is a messier timeline of stray pictures and notes.

Tapestree

I've been cross stitching since grade school. After "completing" lots of projects from store-bought patterns, I decided that I wanted to create a depiction of my own life in fabric (kind of like a primitive charm bracelet). I wrote more about my sampler inspirations in this post.

I plan to include memories, current events, or anything I'm especially interested in at the time. The initial goal was to add one new design per week (lol).

My original idea was to stitch a family tree, hence the name.

I also create patterns to help others tell their life stories through needlework. To get started on your own tapestree project, visit my etsy shop listing for the base pattern and instructions.

I hope needleworkers can use my ideas and run with their own interpretations, so that every project is unique and personal.

my tapestree stats & materials

My overall tapestree is stitched on 45ct. ivory Florence linen with a range cotton embroidery thread. Most of it is cross stitch + freehand.

It measures about three feet wide by two feet high. Here's an idea of the size.
