The Three Marys

The Three Marys at the Tomb by Mikotaj Haberschrack

Over the weekend I spent some time researching The Three Marys for my most recent Patreon newsletter and learned a lot of interesting folklore.

The Three Marys, also known as the Marys of the Sea, were the women who discovered the empty tomb at the time of the resurrection. In short, according to medieval legend, Mary Magdalene, Mary of Clopas, and Mary Salome traveled with Saint Sarah to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer in southern France following the resurrection. The Church of the Saintes Maries de la Mer is said to hold the relics of Mary of Clopas and Salome.

I have three folk Mary statuettes available this week with flame halos plus a softer, classic Mary for spring. All are currently available in my members-only shop. Those that are still available will be transferred to Etsy tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.
