I just recently learned about the tradition of May baskets. Apparently they used to be a big thing!🌺

During the 19th and early 20th centuries, a popular way to celebrate May Day was to create paper baskets and fill them with flowers. These baskets were then hung from your friends’ and neighbors’ doors to welcome warmer weather.

They were also used as a way to express love or romantic interest.

I made a couple this week and the best thing to come out of it was learning to fold these origami cones, which I’m honestly very excited about (you only need a sheet of paper!). I’ll post the directions I used in my bio link for a few days for anyone who wants to grab them. How perfect would they be stuffed with herbs and hung from doorknobs for protection? 🤎
