I made a 7 day candle wrap yesterday in honor of Dolly and I’m mad at how easy it was. I shared the process below (you can swipe to see the image I used).🕯

I love 7 days, but if you’ve ever shopped for them (especially the ✨fancy ones✨) you know that they’re crazy expensive. I’ve always held off on buying ones I’ve liked because of the price, but I was able to dress one in under an hour with a printer and a couple of dollars in supplies.

I usually get my 7 days from the Dollar Store, which has a good selection of plain colors (and saints!). They’re not the cleanest-burning candles but they work. Aside from that, all I needed was a printer, vellum paper, and a glue stick.

All of the candles are lightly wrapped in a plastic film, so I started by peeling that off and measuring the sides. (I think the one I used was around 8”x7”). Then, I opened image software (I normally use Pixelmator or Canva), made my canvas the same size, and threw on some graphics.

Next, I bought a pack of printable vellum paper, printed the image, and trimmed to size. Finally, I wrapped it around the candle using a glue stick on the edges.

So what purpose does a Dolly candle serve? It’s fun, which is especially important when my altar is serving as a charging spot. A lot of the time, I need to improve my mood before I can start getting in the right headspace to work (or leave my house, honestly.)

Also, I think it’s important to keep aspects of my practice lighthearted. Not only does it provide a refuge if things get intense, but it helps me connect with my ancestors and guides. I think, rather than unending reverence, they like to experience our character and humanity. As with any relationship, continuing to learn about someone and share experiences deepens your connection.

Anyway! The vellum makes them perfectly glowy. Now I have a hundred I want to make (you’re next, Emily Dickinson).

P.S. This template, along with two other options, have been shared to Patreon.
