I got my hands on some new books! (And wanted to share a bit more about my ever-changing tarot/oracle journey.)🕯️

The first, Blackthorn’s Botanical Wellness by @amyblackthornauthor, is a new release from @weiserbooks. I first learned of Amy earlier this year after reading Blackthorn's Protection Magic, which is a really wonderful resource on protection—spiritual, emotional, and physical. Her new book presents more ways to use oils, plants, astrology, etc. for self-care. The concept of dropping shame-based rituals resonates a lot with me right now.

The next one, Wild Witchcraft by Rebecca Beyer (@bloodandspicebush) has been on my wishlist for a while. I’ve been planning on reading more into foraging this winter and am excited that the author provides a ton of info on Appalachian herbalism in conjunction with the Wheel of the Year. I love all the methods for practicing different rituals in the “folk way.”

Finally, I just received my copy of The Book of Séances by Claire Goodchild (@blackandthemoon), which I’ve been anticipating for months. The idea of spiritual encounters is one I’ve always approached super-cautiously, so I’m excited about having an accessible, in-depth, and wildly beautiful guide to different forms of divination (including various histories, tools, and exercises). I also like that it begins with the definitions and customs surrounding death, which is a scary (for me) but necessary thing to consider when starting down this path.

Claire is also the creator of my favorite deck, the Memento Mori Oracle, which has strengthened my practice over the last year. I’ve shared that I tried for years, in frustration, to connect with tarot. I met with readers, attended in-person and online classes, and read a million books, but could never hear the cards. I’ve had a much easier time connecting with the Memento Mori symbolism. And since there are so many expansions and frequent, special-release cards, I’m able to curate a smaller deck with my most powerful set.

I hope you enjoyed this morning’s eclipse—it was magical!🌑
