Oracle divination

I don’t divine on the regular but things usually start to pick back up after June. (I’m sure the anticipation of darker nights has something to do with it.) 🌝

If you’ve been following me for a bit, you might’ve read about my struggle with tarot and inability to connect with those cards. I might go back to them someday but at this point, I consider it kismet because my oracles have become second nature.

I just received my second Memento Mori custom card from @blackandthemoon, this one dedicated to my great-grandfather. In March, I shared my search for his cause of death (a hernia while at work in the mines) and the location of his grave. It had a big impact on me (and still does). You can find the whole article here.

The first card was in honor of Mol Derry, one of my Appalachian inspirations, which I also shared here back in March.

Memento Mori is still my main deck and I’m becoming more attached to it all the time. The folk magic extension (and now the custom cards) make it feel especially familiar. I’ve chatted with a few of you recently about how to handle its mighty size with the extensions and special cards, and I’ve shared that the best method for me has been to sit with the deck every few months, get ✨super relaxed,✨ pull the cards that aren’t resonating right now, and replace them with any I’m feeling drawn to.

Additional cards pictured are The Literary Witches Oracle by @taisia.kitaiskaia and @goodyhoran and my newest favorite, Eerie Encounters: A Cryptic Oracle Card Deck by @bedlamb0y. 🖤
