Here are two ways to make rose sugar, which is a wildly simple (and beautiful) way to blend love magic and hearthcraft.🌹

Rose sugar, created with intention, can be used in place of regular sugar anywhere you want to add a little extra love. You can stir it into your partner’s tea, sprinkle it on a gift of baked goods, or line the ring of a cocktail glass.

You can make it two different ways—using fresh or dried edible rose petals. My first round of roses just bloomed and I’m so excited about them, so I used fresh. You can swipe above to see the different steps in the process.

To use fresh petals, you will need:

1 cup fresh, edible rose petals, packed tight
1 3/4 cups caster sugar

Caster sugar has a consistency somewhere between granulated and powder, so it dissolves really nicely. If you don’t have caster sugar, you can blend granulated in a processor for a few seconds. Or you can just use regular sugar for extra texture.

Start by removing the white tip that attaches the petals to the bloom. You can snip them with scissors, but I usually just tear them away.

Add your petals to a blender or mortar and pestle and process until crushed. Add your sugar and blend until well-mixed.

Spread on a platter and allow to dry for at least 3 days. Place in a sealed jar.

If you’re looking for a little more (or less) rose flavor, I recommend adjusting by adding (or subtracting) 1/2 cup of petals.

To use dried rose, you will need:

3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 tablespoon of edible dried petals, ground into a flour

Mix the two together in sealed jar. That’s it!

While preparing your sugar (using either method), make sure to add some of your own love into the mix—think happy thoughts. If it suits you to call for intercession, invoke the goddess Venus, or pray to Saint Dwynwen (according to legend, she’s granted three wishes, one of which is that God protect true love—it’s a fun one).💛
