Here’s a simple garden blessing to welcome pollinators.🦋 I named it in honor of Psyche, who is traditionally portrayed with butterfly wings.

You will need:

- square of biodegradable fabric (I like linen or burlap)
- small amount of sugar water (I use 1 part sugar to 5 parts water—you can microwave or boil for a few seconds so the sugar dissolves)
- fresh rose petals
- pinch of garden earth
- twine or cotton string

Light your favorite incense.

Using your finger, draw a sugar water arrow on your cloth square. It should be pointing upward for growth. The arrow also represents Cupid, Psyche’s consort. Their legend inspired Beauty and the Beast and is one of the few love stories in mythology that has a happy ending.

Cover the arrow with three rose petals.

Take a pinch of earth from the garden you wish to bless and add it on top.

Meditate on your living garden. Envision a circle of safety for the desired pollinators. Light a candle and invoke a deity or pray for their protection and industry.

Form a pouch with your fabric (lift the four corners and twist). Tie it closed with string or twine.

Bury in your garden.

Psyche is a goddess of love and beauty. As a mortal, she lived in palace of luxury that was full of riches. Psyche and Cupid’s daughter, Hedone, is known as the goddess of pleasure. It’s all very #taurus.
