This is less of a love spell as it is an unblocking spell, but I’ll take any excuse to make a poppet on Valentine’s Day.🖤

Maybe you’re looking for love, or maybe more friendship. Maybe you’d like to make room in your heart for patience in your current relationship, or to be open for more time with your family. Here’s one way.

First, make your poppet.

This can be extremely basic (like me). For my girl (swipe for a closer look), the pattern is just a circle on top of a rectangle. Fold your fabric in half and trace your pattern. Cut it out so you have two copies.

Next, decorate one side of your cutout. I used embroidery floss to make a line for the mouth, an X over the heart, and to attach two beads for the eyes.

Sew the two right sides of the fabric together, leaving a small opening to turn inside out. Be sloppy, it’s fine.

Pull the fabric inside out through the opening. This is where you can fill your poppet based on intention. I used dried lavender for calm and protection, lace agate for stability, and some fluff. (I also poured in a few tablespoons of sand to give her a good weight, but you’ll have to make sure your stitches are small to hold it in.)

I slapped some doll hair on top and gave her a little green linen bandana (green represents all categories of love) because it’s a mess.

Sew the opening closed.

When you’re ready to open yourself up to love, slide a safety pin through your poppet’s heart. When you’re like, “too much love!” remove it.

Happy Valentine’s Day! 💌
