Here are the elements I'm using for my zodiac-inspired New Year's witch's ladder. You can swipe to see which item belongs to which sign (I included more details below). Thanks to everyone who shared their personal correspondences in my stories—you guys gave me really beautiful ideas!🖤

I wanted to use knot magic to generate some harmony for the next twelve months, so I decided to create twelve “cords,” corresponding to the zodiac, which I’ll weave together during a ritual this weekend. (I think I’ll probably drape this along the windowsill that sits behind my altar.)

The twelve:

+ Aries - wooly, scarlet-red ribbon yarn
+ Taurus - my sign, so I used my favorite base: jute, which feels most hearth-y to me (it's also super-strong)
+ Gemini - two sprigs of fresh lavender
+ Cancer - twine soaked in ocean water and shells
+ Leo - honey bound with golden thread
+ Virgo - I wanted to use another earthy, homey textile, so I pulled burlap...this also made sense, as my husband is a Virgo, and burlap is made from jute (see Taurus above)
+ Libra - ultra-cozy, soft grey yarn
+ Scorpio - hot sauce bound in leather cord
+ Sagittarius - cinnamon bound in purple bowstring
+ Capricorn - rustic, sheepy yarn soaked in December’s moon water
+ Aquarius - a feather bound in moon-soaked silver silk
+ Pisces - golden pearls

Have a safe weekend!
